Bible Verses For Teamwork And Working Together

It has always been God’s desire for us to love and work together to do good works according to His purpose. The Bible advises us that our lives would be better if we worked together in peace and harmony. Therefore, we should take into consideration the bible verses for teamwork and working together to heart. It all starts with working for God’s plan for His people.

Let’s review how we should be working with the Lord God, Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit, family, friends, and even co-workers to bring the whole body of Christ together. Jesus was very clear in his message that we should be serving each other together. The main purpose of the bible verses for teamwork and working together is to make the hard work easier for each other.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 ESV

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 1 Peter 4:10 ESV

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV

Working With God

From the beginning of time, God has faithfully worked with mankind.  He has helped them overcome their enemies and to try to work with them to overcome their unfaithfulness. Meanwhile, God’s people on the other hand have not always been faithful to Him.

However, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ always had a plan. In the Old Testament God promised a Savior. For God knew that mankind would not be able to keep the covenant that He made with them. We were just too sinful and too unfaithful. Like the Israelites, we worship the work of our hands or feel we can accomplish things on our own. Sometimes with good and bad intentions, they fail to accomplish God’s plan. However, regardless of our intentions, we serve a God of endurance, and He will be with us until His plan is completed.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Ephesians 6:16 NIV

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Psalms 33:11 NIV

Working In Our Weakness

Even in our weakness, God was working within us. Helping us with the hard work of living in our own free will. That same free will served as a reminder that we are broken because the world challenges our faith every day. Hence, God’s building up the lowliness within us strengthens us enough to get the hard work done. He is and will always be a God of patience.

Therefore, when we pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we should seek His power to overcome our weakness to become good stewards of God.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10 ESV

Working With Jesus

In the New Testament Jesus commands, us to work with Him by being His disciple.  We are called to go out and share the good news. Jesus reminds us that we are working for God to bring others to the Lord. This is the will of God that we work to bring people into His saving grace.

God’s purpose for the Israelites was for them to be a priest to all nations to lead them to God. However, ultimately, that job fell to Jesus because of the sinful ways of God’s people. God’s love for us is that we should not perish but be redeemed by Jesus.  To return this love we are commanded to love God, to love others, and bring them to Christ.

Jesus’ sacrifice enables us to present our request to God. His sacrifice allows us to bring our petition directly to God.  Jesus is our High Priest working to cleanse us of our sins when we make our confessions.  We should desire this for our fellow man. Hence, we are called to work with Jesus to help bring the world to eternity. However, we can only do these great things with the help of the Holy Spirit.

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Mark 16:15 ESV

Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, Hebrews 3:1 ESV

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. John 14:15 ESV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 ESV

Working with the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit works with us in reminding us, guiding us, and helping us with our prayers.

The Holy Spirit brings to our mind the knowledge of the Son of God. This helps us to not forget the teachings of Jesus. The teachings of mercy, grace, and salvation are to be shared with our neighbors. We are to be good stewards of the manifold grace of God. God demonstrates His grace in a variety of ways i.e. income, home, friends, family, salvation, grace, mercy, and love. God also answers our prayers sent by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit delivers our prayers to Jesus and Jesus then intercedes for us before God. Especially when we need His forgiveness. We can also pray for strength and knowledge from the Holy Spirit when we need to share the word with the world.

Hence, The Holy Spirit dwells in us and brings us truth. He works with us to help us in all the days of our lives to do good deeds. The power of the Holy Spirit leads us to do great things beyond our capabilities.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Romans 8:26 ESV

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26 ESV

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. John 16:13 ESV

Working With The Whole Body

The whole body makes up the church.  Each works together with the spiritual gifts they have been given to spread the gospel.  The Pastors of the church bring the word to the people gathered at church services and other occasions. The worship leaders sing and play instruments to lead the congregation into worship of God. Then the work of ministry leaders includes leading groups, caring for those in need, and doing mission work in their community and throughout the world. There are also prayer groups that pray for the leaders and the congregation. Hence, each of us should be part of the body working towards the good reward of seeing one more for Jesus. Each of us makes up one body with many different gifts Therefore, be reminded that no one gift is better than another, but we are all God’s fellow workers with one purpose to glorify God.

For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, Romans 12:4 ESV

that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:6 ESV

For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building. 1 Corinthians 3:9 ESV

Working With Family

On the flip side of working together is working with family.  All family dynamics are not the same. We all come from homes that range from a loving family to a dysfunctional family. However, there are many homes in the middle that lean between a loving and a dysfunctional mix. No family is perfect and according to Forbes, 70-80% of Americans consider their families dysfunctional.

This was not God’s plan for the family. God envisioned a family where both parents teach the children the ways of the Lord. Hence, they could go out and find a spouse. Consequently, share their faith in the gospel with their children and continue this cycle. The cycle of leading the world to eternal life as commanded by our Lord Christ Jesus one family at a time. This will lead to a generation of believers with a love for the Lord.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” Ephesians 5:31 ESV

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 ESV

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 ESV

You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Deuteronomy 11:19 ESV

Tell your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children to another generation. Joel 1:3 ESV

Working With Friends

Many times, we want to foster friendships based on common interests. However, sometimes once we get to know a person, we begin to compare ourselves with them. It may start with both of you looking at your possessions in comparison to the things of others. Or you begin to make poor decisions that lead to quarrels and fights. Such people and behavior will need to be avoided. We should ask the Lord to change this behavior in ourselves so the relationship can thrive. This is the sin of covetousness and envy and is the fastest way to ruin a relationship.

Hence, we ought to foster friendships where we work together in God’s field to harvest new believers regardless of our circumstances. There is a lot of ground to cover in bringing the Word to the world, so we need to stay united.

Hence, God knows that working together will always make a task easier and bring about a good return. Also, we can learn from each other. Thereby making each of us better at the task at hand. The unity of the spirit will come from the peace of having a close relationship built on trust and respect.

You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. James 4:2 NIV

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 NIV

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3 NIV

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. Ecclesiastes 4:9 ESV

 Working With Co-workers

Working with co-workers at the workplace can be interesting for Christians. As we navigate business practice with our Christian values, we can find many challenges. However, they will quickly find out that you are a Christian by the way you behave within these challenges.

In most cases, you will be doing God’s work by example. You should rely on all your Christian values by being kind, patient, understanding, thoughtful, and helpful. You should foster a bond of peace with your co-workers who will trust and have faith in you. The word of God should flow from your mouth when you share the importance of teamwork and being good team members. Hence, you will foster such harmony at work that it will be beyond their understanding. They may come to you with questions. This will be your opportunity to share where your hope comes from. Be ready and prepared to do the work of the ministry. This is great teamwork with Jesus and your co-workers.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Galatians 5:22 ESV

eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3 ESV

but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 1 Peter 3:15 ESV

Ambitions In the Workplace

Finally, avoid selfish ambitions even though the world encourages us to be as ambitious as possible. Most times this will lead to a multitude of sins that only the love of God can cover. You open yourself up to unclean spirits and help the devil to obtain a strong hold on your life. Therefore, always consider the interests of others as you navigate the workplace. You must maintain a solid work ethic regardless of your work environment.  Transform them do not let them transform you.

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Philippians 2:3 ESV

For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. James 3:16 ESV

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4 ESV
